How to Professionally Lift a Truck

What goes into lifting a truck professionally? The process involves quite a bit of labor, and you’ll need a team of technicians who know the ins and outs of your model. That’s because sometimes lifting a truck requires installing a longer driveshaft, a new transfer case, or some other additional components that the manual might not indicate. Here are the basic steps of how to lift a truck:

1. Remove the negative battery cable.
2. Loosen the lug nuts on each tire.
3. Raise the truck up with a jack and jack stands, making sure that the vehicle’s center of gravity is in the proper position
4. Remove the wheels and tires and set them aside.
5. Remove the old U-bolts, along with current shocks and springs.
6. Attach the new bolts, as well as the new shocks and suspension. 
7. Tighten all of the pieces and bolts to the proper specifications with a torque wrench.
8. Based on your new dimensions, reinstall the old tires or install a new set of larger tires.
9. Lower your vehicle carefully and inspect the final result.
